Continental eyes electrical autos as " diesel car demand declines " ????
FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) -- Continental plans to replace what it sees as an increasingly sluggish demand for diesel fuel cars with supplies to the future trend of electrical cars, board member Karl-Thomas Neumann told Handelsblatt.

The only thing permanent is change
For as long as most of us can remember, the U.S. automobile business has had cycles. Whenever there was a down cycle, you knew you had to hang in there, and before long, things would come back to normal. And then you would see the cycle head upward again. It's not going to be that simple this time Keith Crain is publisher and editorial director of Automotive News. ...

ARAI Engine Development Lab performed Dyno testing on a 149cc Briggs & Stratton gasoline engine as part of our research efforts.

The basic table is reproduced here. The actual report can be sent if requested but it is making the page look funny. Here is the data itself. This was a Single Cylinder, Four Stroke engine with 65mm bore and 45mm stroke Model 93412 Type 1015E 1. The test was performed on a Benz(EC-70) Dynamometer on Jan 11, 2002 with a Champion RC14YC spark plug and GTX 20W40 oil.

Im confused by this test. the base test actually seems to be better than the single groove here. The second test with three grooves actually is a totally different cylender head with a centrally mounted spark plug and a twisted angle which would contribute to a more efficient burn with lower egt's and BSFC numbers.

I'm going to try modifiying Briggs and Stratton heads with my class. Can you offer any advice for not only making the grooves, but also ways to test the engine so that we retrieve accurate results?
