Finally got a look inside the 173cc engine I believe that it can be grooved Do I use the standard suggestions on groove placement, and with such a smalll engine, should I use more than 1 groove? Respectfully P Meister Costa Rica

Hello Mr. P Meister,

i think it has got a small circular squish band ~ if this is the case use a tiny small 2 to 2.5mm thick round file to score. Place one diagonally opposite the plug - Place the next 2 close to the plug thereby getting 3 equidistant small channels through the tiny squish band. Check the valves, valve seats, piston rings and bore wear before assembly.

Do it and let us know how much better it runs and pulls up the slopes.
All the best !

yesterday afternoon, grooved the Bajaj 173.5cc engine - absolutely miraculous. MUCH more power, under load now has a deep throated growl. Idles smoother - I did what you said - used a very small rat tail file, tapered to a point at the end, with teeth all the way to the end! Scored 3 grooves - took about about 5 minutes - Must look very closely to get the grooves in to the squish area. These clowns at the major auto companies should receive the "barbed wire enema" for not taking you seriously Why you don't patent this in India and set up shop there, I don't know (solely doing Bajaj and these other small engines)! You'd have mechanic shops needing to start assembly lines to do the modifications! Respectfully

Next question: can I groove my 395cc Piaggio APE diesel? Maybe, Mr. Singh you already know the answer? I'll check at the dealer next time I'm in San Jose - If he has a head. If it does have a squish area, what is your opinion on trying this? Would it radically change the compression ratio? The Piaggio has a lot of power, but if I could get the same improvement in performance that I got with the 173.5cc gasoline engine, it would definitely be worth doing!! Respectfully Paul P. Hello Mr Newman,

i am happy you are open to New Ideas and have progressed this far with the info available on my website.

This time on ~ Score the piston top with 3 tiny channels going into the bowl at an angle to cause a whirl pool effect close to tdc ? First determine the swirl effects caused by the inlet port ~ If it is anti clock wise or clock wise. Appropriately place 3 tiny channels at an angle in the same direction to accelerate the whirl pool effects in the central bowl of the piston.

Don't make the channel to big as they will rob compression ! Compression plays a vital role in diesel engine performance !

All the best ! It is simple and straight forward !
Just Spin It !

Cheers & Wishes !

Finally got to score the piston in my Piaggio APE diesel. Same results as with the Bajaj 173.5cc engines. Much more torquee for the hills. Seems to sound different andruns better and smoother. I have been told that doing this to engines is a CROCK! Believe me, it is not a CROCK. Mr. Singh, you are myt heroe forever! Respectfully P. M.

Hello Mr Newman !

i am happy you carried out this simple and straight forward Groovy mod on your DI Disels APE ! You will see the fuel savings and clean oils with lower noise levels as you go by ! Imagine if all the Big Diesels had this mod to spin the charge better @ TDC this well ! There would be a lot less Black Carbon & CO2 in the Air we inhale !
read on ........ Some hard Facts ~ They will turn bitter as the days go by !

A study published in the journal Science reports that the current level of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere – about 390 parts per million – is higher today than at any time in measurable history -- at least the last 2.1 million years. Previous peaks of CO2 were never more than 300 ppm over the past 800,000 years, and the concentration is rising by around 2 ppm each year.

The World Meterological Organization reported that 2000-2009 was the hottest decade on record with 8 of the hottest 10 years having occurred since 2000.

2009 will end up as one of the 5 hottest years since 1850 and the U.K.'s Met Office predicts that, with a moderate El Nino, 2010 will likely break the record.

Cheers & Wishes ! Time to bring in the needed changes ............. " If you think the rest is real " !

Update on the grooving of my 173.5 cc Bajaj 3 wheel and the Piaggio APE diesel. Changed the oil in both on Sunday. The Bajaj oil was changed back in March, and it had the appearance of having been changed a few days before (I.E. clean). The Piaggio diesel oil was changed back in January, and although very black, I would still consider it clean after the kilometers that I have run it. Absolutely miraculous performance in my opinion, after having grooved the engines. Respectfully
